— Kiwi Bach Paradiso
Originating as a modern kiwi bach style showhome for a Whangarei house company, this Lee Johnston design was relocated to Waipu near Langs Beach to become a full-time home away from home.
The 160 square metre open-plan bach had a few evolutions from Lee for the new owner, including an additional guest wing, decking and a more full-time kitchen and office space. The aluminium and glass single-level structure was to be unique, with an extended roof designed to provide shelter from the sun and cover for an outdoor fireplace.
Lee’s design incorporated a twisted roof which added uniqueness whilst providing shelter and sun protection. The bach itself is constructed in two pavilions with a central link designed to be taken apart in two pieces for transportation.
The Garland's House
Designed in 2007, the modern take on the classic bach is loved by its owner who lives in it full time.
