Architectural Concept & Design

Creative Individual. Passionate Designer.

Lee is a passionate and creative architectural designer with over 30 years of experience in skilful architectural design.

Born in the UK but raised in Whangarei, Lee became a junior draughtsman for a local building firm upon leaving school. His artistic ability propelled him into architectural design and over time Lee has established a reputation for designing high calibre custom builds.

Not content with conquering one skill set, Lee has also spent a good part of his working life as a radio announcer and indulging his love of flying as a Parachute drop and aerobatic pilot. Following the Christchurch quakes, Lee relocated to Canterbury for work and lifestyle reasons.

Traditional Fundamentals with Modern Imagination

Lee describes his design vision as heavily traditional but with the best of modern. “I research quite heavily and incorporate traditional styles into modern designs.”

Working closely with the client to achieve an imaginative outcome. “I’m skilful at cutting through the constraints to produce a quality crafted project and that may be why my clients like my approach.”

The Hand of Conceptual Architecture

Offering a responsive and experienced approach, Lee begins every initial idea as a freehand sketch. “You can’t beat using your hand to draw. It’s quicker and connects your brain with the design on paper.”

“Always treat the design phase as a process. Moulding to the needs and wants as we progress.” Lee says. Initial sketches are evolved on the drawing board and working drawings refined with CAD and BIM technologies. Lee’s love of architectural drawing and his broad working knowledge has resulted in the completion of 600 thrilling and beautiful homes and buildings throughout New Zealand.
